Guy Rides A Mechlike Chair Device That Climbs Stairs For The Win

Here is a video of a stair climbing mech suit which appears to be built out of car shocks. The video shows the mech like chair unit climbing down stairs and then walking across the floor. There are two guys standing to either side to catch the guy riding it if it falls over.

Table Walks Around When Pushed For A Good Time In This Video

Walking Table VideoI'm going with whoever designed this walking table watched Star Wars a few times too many. Apparently this was filmed at some Dutch design show and features the guy on the far side pushing the table causing it to walk across the floor. The legs of the table remind me of the droids in Phantom Menace. It's hard to tell if the table walks in four directions or only two. I'd also have to say that the top of the table shifts down to stand on the legs so that it doesn't walk around by accident. Would this have been more useful before the wheel was invented?

Illusionist Floats Between Two Buildings In Las Vegas In This Video

Guy Floats Between A Building VideoIllusionist guy floats between two buildings in Las Vegas in this Video. There is not a continuous camera on him the entire time as they cut between camera views. Before he starts he gives one of the "spectators" his own camera to film it with. One thing I thought was kind of weird is that the comments the people make seem pretty close to the same comments made in the video where this same illusionist walks across a pool. When they show his shadow against a wall while he his doing his trick there isn't any wire shadows that I could see but the video quality is pretty poor.

Illusionist Walks On Water In A Hotel Pool In Las Vegas Or Miami

Walk On Water VideoThe illusionist in this video appears to walk on water in this video. It looks like he is in either Las Vegas or maybe Miami by the look of the hotel in the background. In any event he walks up to the hotel pool while holding a small video camera and while being filmed by his crew. He steps out into the water and proceeds to walk across. The from sides it really looks like he is walking on something solid an inch or so under the water. However, when it switchs to his personal camera view it looks like he is just windmilling his legs while something else moves him across. At one point someone swims under him and at another point he takes off his shoes and they sink into the water. Based on his windmilling legs I'm going with he's using some kind of wire harness.

Video Of A Crossbow Built Out Of Legos Firing A Bolt Into A Metal Can

Lego Crossbow VideoHere is a video which features a fully working crossbow built out of legos and rubber bands. The rubber bands are across the front to create the tension on the bow. Additionally there seems to be some rubber bands on the back area holding the stock of the crossbow togather. Lastly it seems like he has some kind of pump system for launching the bolt but it could be gears instead. In any event he loads the bolt in and fires a couple times at a metal paint thinner can. The point of the bolt pokes a hole in the can but the bolt itself doesn't stick.

Giant Mutant Tomato Grown In Japan Almost Four Inchs Across

Mutant Tomato PhotoA farmer in Japan who has been growing tomatos for 30 years recently grew this giant mutant tomato which he says looks like a Chinese lion mask. Apparently the mutant tomato is about three times normal size at 10 cm across and weighting 150 grams (or about a third of a pound). So is the farm down wind from one of the nuclear blasts from WWII or possibly getting water from one of their nuclear plants. Next thing you know they will clone this mutant tomato and it will be a delicacy in Japan like square watermelons.

Check out the full size photo plus article about this huge mutant tomato after the jump.

Beat the Balrog At His Own Game With Your Own Flaming Whip

Flaming Whip VideoRan across a site with instructions on how to build your own flaming whip with some chain, rope, and metal pipe. You're probably better off NOT building it though as you'd probably accidently wrap it around your leg for an in prompt to BBQ. In lieu of that you can watch the video instead of a guy with a flaming jump rope getting crazy on stage. The flaming torch spinners? Yeah, they have nothing on this guy with his flaming jump rope. I'd even go as far as to say Mad Max might be jealous of the flaming jump rope. There is an additional photo of dual flaming jump ropes after the jump.

Alternative Computer Interface Using Data Tiles Which Widget Togather

Data Tiles Test VideoThis video is apparently of a prototype device that Sony is working on called 'Data Tiles' or some such. There is an oval with a LCD in the center of it and the LCD is split up into 12 tiles (four across and three down). There are a number of glass tiles with different etchings on them like 'weather', 'timemachine', and 'map'. The user takes the tiles and places them on the tile spots on top of the LCD. Under the times the LCD lights with as the 'widget' or application associated with the timer. You can also chain the tiles togather for example by placing a 'timemachine' next to a 'weather' you can scan back and forth through time data for the weather. Add a camera tile to the mix and it scans back and forth through the camera video based on the time in the time tile. It seems like digital lego displays which would allow people to chain tiles togather to create applications without knowing anything about programming. Cool stuff.

Square Watermelons Raw Horse Meat And Sparrow On A Stick In Japan

Square Watermelon PhotoI saw a photo of a square watermelon over on another blog but there was no additional information to go with it. Looking for more information I came across a site in Japan which talks about square watermelons (and other foods). Apparently they grow square watermelons in a glass box and in Japan they cost something like 10,000 yen a pop at the time the webpage was written. It says they are a luxury item that would be given as a corporate gift. Other foods listed on the page are horse meat (with photo), grilled sparrow on a stick, living fish, and blowfish. So do other melons like cantelope grow square in a box or is the rind not tough enough? Would oranges grow square?

Check out the larger photo of the square watermelon and a photo of some horse meat.

Guy Performs An Illusion Of Anti Gravity While In A Milk Crate

Anti Gravity Device VideoThe guy in this video does an illusion where it looks like he has created an anti gravity device out of a milk crate. There is a black bottom, a black bar across the crate from one corner to another, a gamepad hooked up to the black bar, and a string tied to the other two corners of the crate. The guy steps into the crate and picks up the controller. He proceeds to rise up out of the box so it looks like there is maybe 2 inchs between his feet and the bottom of the box before 'landing' again. Next up he puts the rope around his shoulders and this time the whole box lifts up so it is maybe two inchs off the ground (and this time he is standing on the bottom of the box).
