In this video clip they take a can of thermite, place it over a barrel size ice cube and light the thermite on fire. The thermite burns through it's container and drops down onto the ice where the whole thing explodes.

Here's a demonstration video of what can happen when a lithium ion battery explodes in a laptop. The video is a little slow so you'll probably want to click forward past some of it. In any event the first 'cell' in the battery explodes releasing some smoke and damaging the casing. The next cell explodes because of the heat from the first cell and blows a hole in the top of the cashing. Each cell explosion is progressively worse than the last one with the fifth or sixth cell explosion throwing out a pretty good size jet of flame.

Apparently a guy grew this giant pumpkin to set a record and he captured the pumpkin growing on time lapse in this video. The pumpkin goes from a flower to a giant mammoth in the video. Finally at the end of the video they blow up the pumpkin with half a pound of TNT. It looks like they move the pumpkin before blowing it up because there isn't anything else green around it at that point but the field could have died back as well. It looks like they put a board under the pumpkin so it wouldn't rot into the ground before they were read to blow it up.

This video seems to be from a chopper or some other sky news camera. The screen dub is in German or Czech or some other Latin base language. At first they start out with a close up of�a�overturned gas big rig with some fire around it. From there the video zooms out and then the gas tanker gives in to the fire and just explodes in a huge fireball. We aren't talking your normal "wow that was a huge explosion". We're talking "holy crap that fireball is fifty stories high and just engulfed two city blocks" explosion.�If you look close when the video is zoomed in you can see what looks like a parking garage which is about four stories. Now look at the fireball. Yeah.

Here is a video of a 2006 Ferrari which was burning on the side of a highway. For the first part of the video cars just keep driving by ignoring the burning Ferrari until finally someone stops the traffic. Near the beginning of the video it looks like the gas tank explodes because there is a huge fireball plume before the fire dies back down. It seems like the driver of the Ferrari is standing a ways back down the road calling emergency services on his cell phone. Guess they don't make them like they use to huh?

In this video a bunch of college students are sitting in a lecture hall listening to a lecture. A guy near the front row gets a call on his cell phone and stands up. He throws his cell phone down (it explodes into hundreds of pieces) and rips off his clothes to uncover a superman suit he is wearing underneath. He charges up the eisle, stoping at the top of the stairs to pose like superman, and then charges out of the doors and away. It is obviously pre-planned because there are two different camera angles but it is believable that it happened in a real lecture vs. being complete staged. Most of the college students don't even look around as he runs by.

This video features some guys spraying some kind of aerosol can into various objects and then lighting the fums on fire. First they start out with a construction cone which explodes off the ground when they light it. Next up they fill a 5 gallon water jug with the aerosol fumes and light it. The fire starts at one end of moves down to the back of the clear jug which looks kind of cool. They also spray it on another guy's skin, light, it, and it burns out pretty quick. Lastly they use the construction cone again and it explodes off the ground (see photo). Don't try this at home.

Today's video is pretty blurry but it does show a pretty cool trick. The guy has two one liter bottles of soda and a box of mentos. It appears to be on some TV show with a reporter. Anyway he puts 13 mentos in a test tube and then holds them above the open liter bottle of soda using a business card. When he pulls out the business card and lets the mentos fall into the bottle of soda it explodes. As in there is a giant eruption of soda out of the bottle around 20 feet up into the air. So what causes that? The citric acid on the mentos reacts with the carbonation? The guy alludes that this is what happens but doesn't go into the specifics.

So in this Nike commercial there is a team of soccer players (oh excuse me futball)�in a police SWAT van. They drive up to a building and the head guy shows them the "target" which is a soccer ball. They invade the building James Bond style and attempt to steal the ball from a laser entrapped safe room. Suffice to say they screw up and the alarm goes off. A giant throng of ninja looking guys wearing fencing masks chases after them attempting to get the soccer ball back. The soccer hero James Bond guys finally get cornered by the head ninja guy in red. They bounce the ball off the ninja guy crashing into into the elevator while they escape Matrix style in a helicopter. Just as they jump away the ninja guy turns into a robot and the building explodes. Except that only two soccer guys escape. What happened to the rest? Like I said this commercial is pretty weird and doesn't incentivize me to buy Nike.
