Here is a bizarre video of what happens to a Furby toy when it is microwaved. The head of the Furby burns brightly and then catchs on fire before burning down into a pile of ash. For a good time.
The guy in this video demonstrates a Rubens Tube. He has a speaker at one end of a piece of PVC pipe that contains holes. He runs propane into the tube and lights it up like a camp stove. The pipes sound through the speaker and the sound waves compress the air in the tube giving the sound wave visualization in the flames.
Here's an article about a flexible video display that Sony is working on. Apparently it is a combination of TFT and electroluminescent display technology. Electroluminescent is a cold light backing which takes very little electricity like you would use on a security vest. Sony is showing off a 2.5 inch flexible prototype display using the technology. Call me when I can actually buy it 5 years from now. I'm putting this one up there with e-ink and the laser laptop keyboard.
Here is a collection of photos by an artist who takes drift wood and makes horses out of a bunch of different pieces. They are surprisingly lifelike looking. They are somewhat of a cross between looking like a real horse, a zombie horse, and a mechanical horse. What really makes them look real is the background setting and pose.
This video features Godzilla playing the first level of Super Mario Brothers. I'm going with Godzilla is overkill in this setting. What have the mushroom guys got against his lightning breath attack? Apparently the mashup was done with a side scroller EMU application.
Ding ding ding! And we have another Darwin Award nominee in this video. The guy takes a stick (or sledge hammer) and hits a can of WD40. It explodes in his face. The question what did he think was going to happen when he hit it? You know those warning labels on the outside? Yeah.
The cat in this video plays the piano with one paw and a chin. It's hard to tell if the cat is actually interested in the sound or if there is just fish oil or some such on the keys.
Here are a couple photos of a transparent car which has a body made out of plastic. According to the originating page it was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show or some such. Does it come with an airbag?
Guy puts on a skydiving wing suit, straps a jet engine to each of his feet, and jumps off of a hot air balloon for a good time in this video. It doesn't look like it would be very easy to land with the jet engines on his feet but I assume he just pops a parachute.
Guy demonstrates a coin trick using a glass table to show the movement of the coins. He flicks each coin under a towl while pretending to pick it up and then drops a palmed coin out of his hand into the glass.
