This video features Godzilla playing the first level of Super Mario Brothers. I'm going with Godzilla is overkill in this setting. What have the mushroom guys got against his lightning breath attack? Apparently the mashup was done with a side scroller EMU application.

Here's an almost consumer level product which is a 3D laser scanner. It costs around $2500 and you can put any smallish object on front of the scanner to be scanned in. It scans the object and scans a full color texture for the object. Apparently it can also control the turn table to scan the multiple angles of the object automatically. Pair this up with a 3D printer and you have your own almost consumer priced fabrication lab that fits on top of a desk.

Here's a video where a hamster runs through what looks like a cardboard cutout of a side scroller video game. It seems like for most of the video the 'level' is up and down but for some of it they turn the 'level' on it's side to make the hamster go where they want it to. In any event the effect is of a hamster running around in a side scroller video game collecting food treats. They add monsters and moving platforms by using wires with paper cutouts glued to them. At a couple points in the video the hamster things about climbing out of the 'level' completely.

I found this video which claims to be the first level of Super Mario Brothers 3 done with legos. I counted the frames and I see about 5 frames per second which would be a total of 160 frames as the video is 32 seconds long. The sheer volume of legos that the person that put this togather had to move to represent each frame is amazing. I don't see movement around the edges of the frame where the legos are so I don't believe they used multiple trays to put the legos on. I'll wager they did use some kind of scanline system where all of the legos in a single horizontal line were attached to a single piece so they could just move the entire line over to the left one space in each frame (plus whatever changes from Mario crossing the scanline).

I saw this video of Bob Sapp vs. Morning Musume over on BoingBoing today. Morning Musume is, I assume, a Japanese TV show. The same show that had the meat eating lizard and the women with the steaks tied to their heads. Anyway, in this episode of the show they have a big brawny American guy battle it out with the Morning Musume in a battle of brawn and a battle of witts. The battle of brawn consists of the twelve women from Morning Musume each having an inflatable ball attached to their arms. Bob Sapp has 12 inflatable balls tied to him. He has to grab all 12 of the balls from them before they steal all 12 of the inflatable balls from him. Suffice to say he wins. Next up is the battle of witts where they play a Solitaire type matching video game. Bob Sapp gets to around level three before lossing. It seems like a pretty tough game from watching it. Next up one of the women from Morning Musume plays the game. She gets to level five and wins. Now the weird thing is, and I can't tell if it's just chopped video or not, in level two and level three of the video game she has only half as many pictures to match as Bob Sapp did. Did they rig is so she would win, was there some time requirement she hit to give here a bonus like that, or did they simply cut it out of the video? In any event, I'll never understand Japanese TV.

In this video, which takes place in Iraq, some troops have packed a house with C4 in a training exercise. You wait for a good 30 seconds or more before the explosion actually goes off. I'm not sure what that dust cloud is in the background behind the house either. But when the C4 goes off it totally levels the house and blows dirt and pieces of house everywhere. There is so much dust you can't see a thing. The screenshot there is the exact moment of the explosion before all the dust obscures it. Bet the Chinese never thought it would come to this when they developed gun powder eh?

Tough flash puzzle game. You have to move three squares around so that they match up with a pattern on the floor. Once you have the matching pattern you can move them over the colored location on the floor and complete the level. Very basic graphics but a fun if tough puzzle. The trick is to use the wall pieces to move certain pieces of the puzzle and not others until you can get them to match up. It is a lot harder than it looks.

Simple side scroller where you are a tire rolling down the street and you have to jump over various objects to finish the level. When you jump you can also pick up powerups like cash etc. Cartoony graphics�and music. Frankly, I'm not sure the graphics could suck any worse unless I drew them myself. You will have to watch out for the mono color hills in the background so they don't jump out and get you. This game takes retro graphics a little to far --�I don't care if it was made in 1987.

Our hero in this video likes skydiving. Except that regular skydiving is for wussies right? You have to take skydiving to the next level which is what the guy in this video does. He jumps out of the plane and then deploys his chute. Now he takes a flare gun�out and blows a hole in his parachute which also catchs it on fire. Just how much more extreme can you get than parachuting with a burning parachute? Anyway the chute finally burns up and he dumps it. Falling the rest of the way he deploys a second chute and is safe. Does he get a Darwin Award Finalist medal?

A arcade style game similar to Space Invaders. You throw bombs at a formation of bugs while they try to splat or bite you. Multiple levels with different formations of bugs on each level. The graphics are kind of campy but they work for the game. The sound effects and voices in the game are pretty cool as well. If you lose it says "I.. am.. defeated..". Oh and remember that you have to kill all the bugs in the level because they just appear at the top again if they move off of the bottom of the screen.
