Here's a funny video of an automated weathercam�which�was displayed on live Czech TV that�was hacked to display a mushroom cloud. The footage looks pretty realistic with the camera whiting out for�good period before showing the cloud. There wasn't any shockwave though which kind of gave it away as being a prank. Here is an interesting article about an inventor from England who has created a hoverdrone. It is basically a cross between a hovercraft and a helicopter which looks like a flying saucer. It's shaped like a bell with the rotating blade above the bellshape. The air is forced down around the sides of the bell which I assume causes lift. This thing looks like the hover drones from the Dark Angel TV series. The real question is can they scale this thing up so it can carry a human?

Here is a video of a pool of corn starch on a Spanish TV show. The mixed up corn starch in a concrete mixer and then poured it into this pool. The trick is that it is a non-newtonian fluid which means that when force is applied to the liquid it exhibits properties of a solid. In the video the two hosts of the show repeatedly run over the top of the corn starch. Just to show that it is actually liquid the one host sinks into the corn starch while the other host continues to run around on top of the liquid. Near the end they have some bystanders also run over the liquid and the other host sinks into the corn starch too.

Here is a slow motion video of various household objects being fired at high speed at various other household objects and shown here in slow motion. Some of the things they fire out of the cannon are beer cans, mustard jars,�sausage, whipped cream containers, and paintballs. They use a little white cup inside the cannon barrel to blow out whatever it is that they are shooting out of the cannon (you see the white cup in most of the shots). When they shoot the paintballs it works like a shotgun and peppers the target. They blast a TV, a radio, melons, flower�pots, flower arrangements, bottles of wine,�and all kinds of�other stuff�with beer cans.

Here is a video clip from what seems like a British comedy TV show. They have an actor guy go into malls and pretend to steal something from a story to get a security guard to chase him. Reality stealing? Anyway, the guy only takes the tag that sets off the alarm but he pretends to have stolen a hat that he originally goes into the store with. The security guard predictably chases him. In two out of three times he gets away. However, on his second try he attempts to slip by some people on an escalator and a bystander tackles him to the floor. Owned.

So the most emailed photo on Yahoo right now is this photo of a guy who can pop his eyeballs far out of his eye sockets. I've seen a video from a TV show where a guy could do something similar. I'm not sure if it was the same guy or not. The photo shows a picture of him with his eyes looking normal and then this picture of him with his eyes popped way out of his sockets. The guy's name is Claudio Paulo Pinto and his eyeballs pop out�of their sockets about 7 millimeters. He currently lives in Brazil and needs a job according to the caption of the photo.

In case you live in a cave and you missed it, here is a video of the space shuttle Discovery lift off today from Florida. This video looks like it is off of NASA TV but the video itself is somewhat blurry (though the sound is better than some of the news station videos of the launch I saw). Apparently there is an ESA guy on the shuttle which will be station on the ISS for six months. Also some sizable chunks of foam fell off the main fuel tank (just like before) but as far as I read they didn't mention any damage caused to the shuttle from them. Turn your base up before watching for the win.

Here is a strange video for the VW Golf which was probably shown in the UK as I don't see it working so well in the US. The commercial pokes fun at the 'Pimp My Ride' reality TV shows by 'un-pimping' the guys car. The guy has a suped up cheap car with a big spoiler and wild paint job. The engineer guy presses a button to unpimp the car and a crate falls from the ceiling completely flattening the suped up car. The sides fall and the VW Golf (what kind of name for a car is that?) is in the suped up car's place. And how exactly is this suppost to make me want to buy this car again?

Here's a video I found on Google Video of a Tornado rendered in Maya. The partical effects seem to be done pretty well and it looks like the tornado is ripping through an oil refinery or some such. There are all kinds of what look like sheet metal particles swirling around outside of the body of the tornado itself. And where the tornado moves through the refinery there are explosions and fire gouting up into the air. The video doesn't perticularly look very real but they did add a camera shake effect so it would seem like someone was holding the video camera.

So if you've ever seen the TV series Dark Angle with it's police spy killer hover drone you'll recognize this thing. Apparently this is called the Autocopter and it is an unmanned mini helicopter except that now they have added a 12 gauge shot gun to it. This video of it flying around on manual control (and apparently with a tether) shows it testing out the new shot gun mount. First they have it stable on the ground and they fire a single round and then a burst. It does get a little bit of a kickback while on the ground but when they take it up into the air and do some more firing tests I don't notice any kickback. How long until these things are flying around in a city near you with face recognition software ala Dark Angle? You can find more textual information about the Autocopter here.
